While healing with sucralfate may occur during the first week or two, treatment should be continued for 4 to 8 weeks unless healing has been demonstrated by X-ray or endoscopic examination. WebSucralfate as well as colloidal bismuth subcitrate (CBS) and probably also bismuth subsalicylate (BBS) are effective in the acute treatment of peptic ulcer disease. Sucralfate also has positive effects upon symptoms and healing of peptic lesions in reflux esophagitis.
